ओल्ड  वुड  मैजिक -PART ONE

Have you ever visited your grandparents house and taken a keen look at their furniture? Well, it took me 19 years to realize the value of their (now antique) furniture. The wood still remains strong and the grains are still beautifully seen. Unlike, the distressed wooden furniture, MDF, plywood or the laminate furniture available today in our market, this deciduous  wood is completely solid and durable. As the wood gets older, the grain pattern becomes more natural. 

This part one of the blog deals with the dining and living area along with the accessories.

A 39 year old handwoven pure silk Persian Carpet used as a wall hanging which depicts women of the harem relaxing. It beautifully compliments the wooden furniture.

Cabriole legs- Popular furniture leg in which the knee curves outwards and the ankle curves inward terminating it as an ornamental foot. It is associated with the  Queen Anne styles of antique.

Simple woolen Persian carpet with abstract designs. Keeping the floor less attractive is always good as all the attention then is drawn to the antique furniture and accessories. If you have a simple room with minimal decor the it is a good idea to have a carpet with heavy designs like Turkish carpets.

Metal alloy statue of a Greek warrior which makes a stunning and emphasizing accessory for a living room. This can be used as a focal point.

Empire style sofa. This iconic, cornucopia armed sofa has bolster-style cushions on each end below their dramatic arms. intricate carving on their frames and animal paw feet as the legs.

An accessory of a Hindu Goddess complimented with artificial plants.

Yes! it looks like a bed. Yes!  it is more then 9 feet long, Yes! it is 34yeard old. It was custom made to fit one side of the entire living room and cover a 11 foot wide window.Something that is rare today.

If your room is simple and you need a focal point, then a painting with intricate detailing and vibrant colors can be used.

 

It instantly highlights the aesthetics of the room.
